Damerham is an ancient parish and is mentioned in the Domesday Book. There are several definitive works of parish history; the current history of the village is well documented in the Damerham Domesday Book 2000. The master copy of this is on public display in the foyer of Damerham Village Hall.
The parish was until the late 19th Century part of Wiltshire and it is relatively large encompassing settlements at Lower Daggons and Lopshill in the southwest and stretching nearly to Tidpit in the north.
